Where are you based?
We are based primarily in the US on the East Coast and operate on EST, but with editing, we can work virtually and remotely, and our clients can be from anywhere in the world! Just send your files over via links or a file transfer service and we can get to work.
What is a reel and why do I need one?
Your reel is your own personal advert. It serves as an invaluable tool for marketing yourself to potential employers and collaborators.
Whether you’re just starting out in the industry or already established, an up-to-date, professional, and engaging reel is important to have to help you further your career.
Why should I hire you?
We have a decade’s worth of filmmaking experience under our belt, working with big and small clients alike, and making narrative films and documentaries, so we know exactly what a reel needs to showcase your talent.
We use industry standard equipment and programs, have extensive knowledge of story and character, and have edited thousands of hours of content. We pride ourselves in crafting the highest quality video for our clients.
How long will it take to edit my reel/trailer/promo?
It usually takes about 7 to 10 business days.
Every project is different, and some may require more work than others. We will keep in touch with you throughout the entire process and let you know of any issues that may arise.
If you purchase a Rush Service, the turnaround time is usually 2 to 5 days (including weekends and most holidays).
There are some exceptions to our turnaround time commitment:
- The availability of our editors.
- Orders on weekends — While we do monitor our inbox on weekends, depending on traffic, the orders made will count toward the next business day.
- Orders on holiday weeks — We honor all major public American holidays (New Year, MLK Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas), as well as cultural and religious holidays (Lunar New Year, Eid, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah). During these holidays, we extend our turnaround to 10 to 14 business days, to enable our readers to enjoy quality time with family and friends.
How many edits will you do?
Two. We will do a first cut, which we will try our best to make sure is already the best edit it can be. We will send it to you for a review where we welcome any reasonable changes, edits, and suggestions. Those changes will be applied to the second — and final — cut.
If you still wish to make changes after the second and final cut is delivered, each revision will cost an additional $50.
If you are pleased with the first cut, just confirm it with us, and we will put any finishing touches needed on it, and send over the finished file!
How do I pay you? Which payment methods do you accept?
All payments are processed through PayPal. All major credit cards are accepted. A full invoice will be sent to you upon finalization of your order.
As always, email us if you have any questions.
Can I have music for my reel/trailer/promo?
Yes, but that also depends on the project. For acting reels, for example, you might want intro/outro music, but decide not include any music in the scenes so we can focus on your performance. We will do our best to honor your decisions.
If you do plan on using specific music for your video, please make sure you have secured all licensing rights and permissions. EL will not be responsible for obtaining music rights.
How long should my reel/trailer be?
An industry standard reel is anywhere from 2 to 3 minutes long.
An industry standard full length trailer is about 2 minutes 30 seconds long. Teaser trailers and TV spots are usually much shorter, ranging anywhere from 15 seconds, 30 seconds, to 1 minute.
How will I receive my video file?
Your reel, trailer, or promo will be exported with the proper codecs for sharing and uploading, and sent to you via a link ready to stream and download at your leisure.
