The filmmakers’ production label, Carnation Pictures, has also inked a distribution deal with Goldenview for future releases
Indie distributor, Goldenview, has acquired worldwide rights to the independent Asian women-centric drama, Mother Daughter, the feature debut from writer and director Evelyn Lee. The film also stars Lee alongside Shirley Lee. Goldenview is planning a November release.
Inspired by Lee’s own personal experiences, Mother Daughter is a quiet character study that tells the story about a mother and daughter pair, May (Shirley Lee) and Emma (Evelyn Lee), who must process their new reality and relationship with each other after they receive shocking and devastating news.
Both Lees produced the film under their Carnation Pictures banner. The pic was written and directed by Evelyn Lee with her also serving as the film’s cinematographer, editor, and composer.
Carnation and Goldenview have also inked a distribution deal, where Goldenview will distribute future select films, both features and shorts, produced under the Carnation label.
An independent distributor, Goldenview got its start in distributing short films. Carnation Pictures is a boutique film production and content creation banner; Mother Daughter is its first produced feature film.
Goldenview negotiated the deal with CineAsian Films, who represented the film’s sale, on behalf of the filmmakers.
